COMPANY car drivers eagerly awaiting the new Ford Mondeo will be disappointed.
Ford has pushed back the Mondeo’s introduction to 2014.
The disruption to the Mondeo’s launch plans have been incurred following the wholescale restructuring of Ford’s strategy across Europe to take account of falling sales in Europe.
Genk in Belgium, which has made the Mondeo along with the Ford S-MAX and Ford Galaxy, is being closed, and production of the Mondeo moved to Ford’s Spanish facility.
The new Ford Mondeo is due to receive the cracking 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, promising class-leading fuel economy and CO2 emissions. When it finally arrives in 2014.
In other news for business car managers, Ford said it was closing its Southampton Ford Transit factory and a pressings plant in Dagenham.
However, the Ford’s Dunton powertrain facility, which is tasked with building a low CO2 emission diesel engine for Ford company cars from 2016, will continue unaffected.
