OPEN wide and say, ‘Aaah’, to the sexiest Audi TT so far, with a grille to thrill that sends it straight into the supercar bracket and a 0-60mph sprint of just 3.9 seconds.
This Audi TT Sportback concept launched at the Paris Motor Show looks like the automotive equivalent of a collagen lip-filler with its huge gapping honecombe grille.
It’ll need that extra air flow to cool a whopping 400PS from the four-cyclinder 2.0-litre TSI engine, which also boasts a root pulling 450Nm of torque and a claimed 40+mpg.
It’s bigger and more practical, too, with five doors drawing inspiration from the A5 and A7 Sportback models by adding 29 centimetres to the length of the ‘standard’ TT to incorporate its extra rear doors.
And just like the other supercars it’ll be pitching against, the concept uses a sophisticated automatic seven-speed S tronic twin-clutch transmission but with Audi’s iconic quattro permanent all‑wheel drive system.
Other high-end tricks include a high-beam spot which is provided by laser technology: in each headlight, a module comprising four powerful diodes generates a beam of light that illuminates several hundred metres. The laser spot, which is activated at speeds of 37mph and above, supplements the LED high beam.
