Verdict: All of the A5 style with attractive running costs

Audi, A5, Ultra, back
Lowered for the fuel efficiency, but the A5 Ultra cuts a sporty stance

What’s hot

  • Stylish body is understated yet still stands out from the crowd
  • Lowered suspension lends a sporty stance to the coupe
  • Revised diesel engine is both quiet and refined
  • Interior styling is exceptional with a real air of quality
  • Extremely low CO2 rating gives big BIK advantages
  • Supple ride quality thanks to 17-inch wheels and non-sport suspension
  • Large boot, made even more useable with the folding rear seats

What’s not

  • Infotainment controls take some getting used to
  • Rear seats are cramped, suitable only for children
  • Pedals are offset leading to a less than ideal driving position
  • Quality of some of the plastics and switchgear isn’t up to the standard of newer models
  • Handling is uninvolving, this is no sports car
  • No automatic option
