389 – Robert’s luxury Renault

Share

11 February 2010

MY brother and sister in law popped by last Sunday. They were on their way home and paid us a visit on the way. It was good to see them – and Robert, in particular, wanted to show me his new car: a 56-plate Renault Laguna.

To say that Robert was chuffed was an understatement. He bought it on ebay for £4500, and while admitting the mileage is on the high side, he’s absolutely delighted with the level of creature comforts: keyless entry; half leather seats; multidisc cd player; xenon headlamps; auto dimming rear view mirror; door mirrors that fold in; and, and, and…The list is endless. I am truly pleased for him.

His wife, Sheena, has a Smart FourFour – now you don’t see many of those around. Which means the current residual values on them are very good. So between them, their motoring is nicely sorted.

Someone else who is nicely sorted and who contacted me today was Nigel Davies from Auto Windscreens. He was very keen to impart the information that Auto Windscreens had been chosen as the glass supplier for Lex Autolease – the biggest contract hire and leasing company in the UK. You might have your business car on contract hire with them.

Given that Lex Autolease is an amalgamation of Lex and Lloyds TSB autolease following the bank mergers, with both having different glass suppliers, you can understand why Mr Davies was so pleased with himself. Nigel, I’m delighted for you too!
