All BMW 3-Series are on the move, but the coupe is especially in demand

IT’S getting dark early and we’re already in the run up to Christmas, but some cars in the prestige car market are clearly going to be selected for delivery by Santa’s sleigh.

Here’s what’s on the want list – and those that will be left out in the cold.

HOT

Jaguar S Type R – Lots of interest with values on the rise. It’s a trend we’re seeing with many prestige performance models, as buyers look towards future classic price increases. As ever, if you want to make sure of future value appreciation make sure you buy the best – so think low mileage/number of owners, condition and detailed service history.

BMW 335d – All models are doing well at the moment but especially the coupe. Little wonder. There’s a fantastic engine delivering stunning performance, accompanied by a charismatic exhaust note that you would not expect from a diesel.

It is much rarer than the heavily sold BMW 330d, which only adds further to its appeal.

Audi A4 2.0T – Much harder to find than the equivalent diesel A4, the 2.0T Audi A4 is in demand, with prices correspondingly firming up.

While the diesel continues to enjoy a significant used price premium over the sweeter higher output petrol engine, this now looks hard to justify. The gap  in residual values will continue to close.

New Audi A4 TDI
The Audi A4 2.0T is rare compared with the equivalent diesel, and that’s adding appeal. Still much cheaper to pick up than a used diesel too
