WHETHER you drive your van for business or personal use, there are certain things that you need to make sure that you have.

If you are considering buying a van to help your business, then you should make sure that you do your research first. You need to make sure that you get the right sort of van for you.

Make sure that you get the right sized one as well.

Just like cars, vans come in different sizes, so it’s a good idea to make sure that you are comfortable driving a certain sized van. Take your time and don’t rush, getting a van is a big decision.

You need van insurance

Once you have the van that you want, you need to make sure that you have van insurance, otherwise you can’t drive it on the road. You need van insurance if you use it for commuting or social driving, if you use a van as a sole trader, or if you use your van as a part of your business.

Van insurance is there to protect any financial issues you might have if your van is stolen or damaged. It can also cover your costs if you accidently injure someone.

If you are unsure about what type of van insurance you need, then there are plenty of websites out there that can help you find the right insurance for you.

The first thing that you need to do is consider getting van insurance, once you’ve decided on the sort of insurance you want, you won’t have to worry about a thing.

Can you use it for personal use?

If you use your van for business, then unless you have the right insurance, you actually can’t drive it.

There are three main types of van insurance: commercial use (for business), private use (personal use) and vintage van use (vehicles over the age of 25). If you use your van for work, then it seems like a strange idea to think that you might not be able to use it for private use, as you surely spend enough time driving around in it anyway.

If you are interested in driving your van for personal use (as well as for business), then it all comes down to getting the right insurance.

Business continuity

Having a van can be a great help to people who need it for business. But using a van can make or break your business. The main reason for this, is that if your van breaks down, it’s imperative that you have right cover, otherwise you won’t be able to do business.

If your van does break down, then you need to make sure that you have a “like for like” vehicle cover, as this will help you if your van is damaged and you can’t drive it. You’ll also want to make sure that you have breakdown cover, and this is something which can be done though your insurance company.

At the end of the day, you’ll probably already know what insurance you have and whether or not it’s correct. However, it doesn’t hurt to just double check things, as you’ll regret it in the future if it wrong.
