Backing up its drive to win more business sales, Volvo  has joined forces with car analysts at CAP to provide an on-screen comparison programme pitting its models against rivals.

Called Volvo Compare, it offers a simple method of comparing the features and prices of the Volvo car range with all other makes and models in the market.

Whether you are buying your business car through the company or privately, the system is suitable for both applications, says Volvo.

Volvo reckons the new system will have great appeal to company car drivers and business car managers, since Volvo Compare offers full transparency to customers by revealing every significant cost and feature aspect of up to four vehicles displayed on-screen together.

Volvo Compare also features a vehicle registration mark look-up facility so that any vehicle already on the road can be included in the comparisons – for example, comparing your existing company car against the models you are considering for your next choice of company car.

For example company car drivers can compare Benefit In Kind company car tax costs; business car managers can check differences in service, maintenance and repair costs; and private motorists can look up fuel consumption information and Vehicle Excise Duty (road tax) rates.

For users unsure of what cars to compare, a time-saving ‘auto suggest’ facility also offers intelligently chosen ‘like for like’ cars for comparison. These are based on common comparisons made by other potential buyers.

Selwyn Cooper, Volvo’s National Corporate Operations Manager, said: “Volvo Compare is a brilliant facility for both private and company car drivers. Its up-to-date market leading data will prove priceless for private buyers, company car decision makers, and company car drivers themselves – ultimately helping them make an informed decision on the vehicle or vehicles that will most benefit them and their company.”

Volvo Compare is the latest move by Volvo to position the company as a real business-friendly company for SMEs and small business owners. And with cars like the new Volvo V40 – showing unprecedented interest with orders five times higher than expected – the brand is making itself more compelling to the SME market.
