LOOKS like Vietnam is moving into the car making business with a new company, VinFast, developing its own range of vehicles to be produced at an all-new manufacturing facility in the north of the country.

It will launch at the Paris Motor Show in October with an SUV and a saloon, both developed by Pininfarina.

VinFast said it is also rapidly developing other vehicles and the company is planning to export to foreign markets in the coming years.

It is working with world-leading European design, engineering and production technology partners to create products that meet international standards and customer expectations in terms of design, quality, dynamics and premium in-car features.

VinFast has also recruited senior executives from some of the industry’s leading automotive companies and has started construction of its plant in Hai Phong, northern Vietnam – one of the country’s biggest industrial projects ever.
