THE existing CO2 emissions based 13- band (Bands A to M) VED structure remains in place for 2014/15.

A modest RPI increase in VED rates (road tax) is applicable from April 1, 2014. The key points are:

  • New cars with CO2 emissions of up to 100g/km remain exempt from VED in 2014/15.
  • New cars with CO2 emissions of up to 130g/km remain exempt from VED in the first year.
  • A supplementary first-year VED rate (or Showroom Tax) adds up to £590 (for Band H cars and above) to the ROTR prices of qualifying cars.
  • In 2013/14, the alternative fuel discounted annual VED rate remains at £10 for all qualifying cars.
