The new Audi TT doesn’t look that much different, but there’s an incredible new interior, and the new cars are 140kg lighter

THIS year, car manufacturers are tempting UK drivers with a diverse selection of new models ranging from mainstream saloons to luxury hybrids. And this of course means that car buyers in search of for a smart-looking, great performing car to make their working day go better have more choice than ever before…

So why not sell your car and pick up one of these business- suited beauties in 2014 instead?

Audi TT MkIII

Although it might not look all that different at first glance, the MkII TT is leaps ahead of its predecessor.

What really sets it apart is the incredible interior. With a 12.3-inch high resolution display (which can be programmed to prioritise the info you need most) replacing the usual instrument cluster, the dashboard design is sleeker all over.

140kg lighter than the MkII, you’ll be able to buy a 181bhp 2.0 TDI diesel, 227bhp 2.0 TFSI or 306bhp 2.0 TFSI TTS model when this car goes on sale in the autumn.

Ultimate Mercedes luxury and performance, with 94.2mpg on tap

Mercedes Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid

Think back just ten years – fuel economy of around 40mpg for a three-door hatchback was thought to be pretty good… Now this luxury three-litre Mercedes Benz S500 hybrid can return a staggering 94.2mpg. We’ve come a long way!

It’s the third hybrid model in the S-Class, powered by a 329bhp V6 turbo engine and an 80kW electric motor. Top speed is limited to 155mph, with CO2 emissions of just 69g/km.

The S500 is one very clever car – when the brakes are applied, the energy they absorb goes to help charge the batteries. The car thinks ahead too, using sat nav data to prepare the power mode for the geography of the next stretch of road. And, according to the manufacturer, the batteries have 10 times the storage capacity of pervious Mercedes hybrids.
