Contingency plans

Contingency plans are extremely helpful when a disaster strikes, but as this video from BCI discusses, they also help to give weight to your business. Whether your fleet consists of five or 50 vehicles, everyone who is serious about protecting their business should have an emergency plan in place.

Reasons You May Need Your Contingency Plan:

  • What happens if there is a fuel shortage?
  • What do you do if your workers go on strike?
  • What happens if one of your team has their license revoked?
  • What happens when your financial backer asks for your plans to protect the business?
  • What happens when there is a natural disaster / terror disaster?

These statistics from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency are just one of many reasons why your company should invest in a contingency plan. Doing your research now, before you find yourself in a snag will save you time and hair-loss should you find yourself in a tricky situation. For example, having the contact details of a great company that supplies spare commercial vehicle parts on hand will save you from having to shop around while your vehicles sit in the garage. Companies that will supply a variety of parts like EMS, who specialise in Truck and Trailer parts for example, hits a lot of birds with one stone.

Considering what you stand to lose through not investing in a contingency plan versus how simple they can be to create, you are better off erring on the side of caution.

Creating a Contingency Plan

Even if paperwork isn’t your forte, there are a number of plan templates that you can access online. Whether you use WikiHow’s plan or are looking for something with a bit more depth, you will thank yourself later when your contingency plan saves your business.
