Automotive Conference tackles transitioning to an electrified future

The Business Motoring Week October 05, 2018THERE was plenty going on during this last week – from the Paris Show to concerning new car sales figures.

But the spotlight in our business motoring world was the Leasing Broker Federation Conference and Awards, which we organise.

Held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham ‘What does the future look like?’ featured a brilliant array of speakers, including keynote James McKemey from Pod Point. There followed a panel discussion featuring Ian Feathertone from the Energy Saving Trust; Owen Gregory (Ford); Paul Hollick (TMC);Adam Harley (BMW Group); Sylvie Childs (Hyundai); and James McKemey (Pod Point).

Synergy celebrate Leasing Broker of the YearSynergy Automotive take Leasing Broker of the Year Award

Following the conference there was an evening presentation to celebrate the best leasing brokers in the market – those businesses offering great deals to lease new cars and vans.

You might think it all comes down to price. But while price plays an important part, service and customer handling are equally important.

Nationwide Vehicle Contracts names winner of the LBF Top30Leasing brokers taker a bigger slice of the leasing market

The volume of business going through leasing brokers is increasing year on year – they are particularly well-placed to offer customer personal contract hire deals as increasing company car tax turns drivers away from a company provided car.

And some of the big leasing brokers are formidable enterprises – such as Nationwide Vehicle Contracts (above), named number one in our annual LBF Top30 listing of brokers by fleet size. More on this in our broker league table.

Just in case you were thinking we had ignored it, the Paris Motor Show did take place – despite missing several key players. Still, there was plenty to look at. As Chris Wright discovered – read his report here – which includes the unveil of the new BMW 3 Series (above).
