Performance, running costs, taxes, you name it, the Tesla Model S is surrounded by statistics you think must be wrong – but they’re right

What is it?

If your image of electric cars is of odd looking things running around city centres, think again.

This is an electric car unlike any other.

It’s a luxury saloon car that sits somewhere between a Mercedes E-Class and an S-Class in terms of size, but spec it up correctly and this car can not only hit 60mph in 4.2 seconds but has a theoretical range of over 300 miles.

Those figures are absolutely staggering in a car that costs from between £55,715 and £74,515, and also qualifies for 0% company car tax.

60mph in 4.2 seconds is supercar territory. Oh, and did we say there’s no company car tax to pay?
