At Detroit still in concept form, but the long-awaited XC90 replacement will arrive in September

Volvo Concept XC Coupe

This Volvo may just be a concept but it gives us a glimpse at how the next XC90 SUV will look when it arrives in September.

It’s set to be one of the most stylish Volvos to date, and underneath the concept is a new platform called SPA, allowing for things like semi-autonomous driving and plug-in hybrid powertrains. If you thought Volvos were boring, get ready to think again.

Porsche 911 Targa

If you want an alternative to the standard 911 Convertible, then you could opt for the new 991 Targa. It gets a design inspired by the 1965 original, including a contrasting metal roll hoop.

There’s a clever electric folding roof mechanism, too, and you can choose between a 911 4 or a 911 4S. You can already place an order for your Targa now, from about £86,000.

Subaru WRX STi

One of the most well-known names in motoring made a return in Detroit, as Subaru introduced a brand new WRX STi.

Power comes from a 2.5-litre turbo boxer engine, producing 301bhp, which is sent to all four wheels in a 41:59 split as standard. Subaru is saying it’ll only be available in limited numbers but will be priced from £28,995.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Detroit is one of the major North American auto shows so you’d expect a big American reveal, and the Corvette Z06 was it.

This is the most extreme variant of the new Corvette yet, powered by a 625bhp supercharged V8 engine. You can order your Z06 with varying degrees of track performance, with the most extreme getting sticky tyres and a big spoiler.
