Tax: how to work out fuel benefit 2007/08

How much you’ll pay in tax

If you have free fuel the amount chargeable to income tax (for the driver) and Class 1A national insurance contributions (for the employer) is calculated by multiplying the fuel multiplier (fuel benefit) by a percentage based on the rate at which the car emits carbon dioxide (CO2, in g/km).
