Audi S5 Cabriolet

Audi 3.0 TFSi S5 Cabriolet S tronic

Audi S5 3.0 TFSi Cabriolet S tronic

What is it?

THE top of the A5 tree – bar the RS. Gorgeous range-topping convertible gets a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine – replacing the old 4.2-litre V8 – a folding electric fabric roof, quattro four-wheel drive, a seven-speed S tronic auto gearbox and sports suspension. Priced at £43,160.

What’s hot?

  • Brawny yet sophisticated looks enhanced by classy roof
  • Performance from new 328bhp V6 is electric…
  • …with 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds and a 155mph maximum
  • Lovely bassy soundtrack under power, quiet at a cruise
  • Auto box, complete with paddles, shifts swiftly and smoothly
  • Rooted to the spot around corners with amazing grip
  • Beautiful interior, sumptuous materials throughout
  • Hood is quiet when in place and drops slickly in just 15 seconds
  • There’s still 320 litres of luggage capacity with it down too

What’s not?

  • Steering, as with most Audis, doesn’t brim with feel
  • The figures may say 29mpg combined, but reality is more like 20mpg
  • CO2 emissions of 224g/km don’t help either
  • Tiny rear seats are best used as extra luggage space

Business Car Manager Road Test Rating

The Audi S5 Cabriolet is incredibly desirable. It’s supercar fast, sure-footed and boasts a brilliantly engineered folding roof. It may be expensive to buy and cost a lot to run, but there are cars that cost twice as much that don’t deliver the same experience.
