Sub-£20,000 price for new Honda Accord

Honda’s new Accord is aiming for premium class rivals Audi and BMW with its pricing and specification levels.

On sale from 01 June, the Honda Accord prices start at L19,250 for the Accord 2.0 i-VTEC ES model.

Equipment levels and advanced technology features have all been improved, while the range of engines is more powerful, but cleaner.

Standard equipment on all models includes alloy wheels, climate control, cruise control, vehicle and trailer stability assist, electric heated/folding door mirrors and all-round electric windows.

There will be four specification grades: ES, ES GT, EX and EX GT.

And two upgrade packs. The Navigation Pack adds DVD navigation, bluetooth hands-free, rear parking camera and premium audio.

The Technical Pack adds Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking (a first in the sector), Lane Keep Assist and xenon headlamps.

The key business grade will be the ES GT specification. This includes 17 inch alloys, half-leather seats, sports suspension and an aero kit.

How the Honda Accord ES GT models compare

  • The Honda Accord 2.0i ES GT has a P11D value of L19,885. It goes into the 22% tax band with emissions of 170g/km. It will cost a 20% tax payer L73 per month in company car tax; a 40% tax payer L146.
  • The Honda Accord 2.2i-DTEC ES GT has a P11D value of L21,735. It goes into the 20% tax band with emissions of 148g/km. It will cost a 20% tax payer L72 per month in company car tax; a 40% tax payer L145.
