What’s hot?
- The price – at some £8500 it’s a bargain
- Roomster nose looks good and overall styling is classy
- Real big car feel inside -loads of room and solid build quality throughout
- Rides very well with composed handling too
- Little three-cylinder engine sounds great
- Boot has a useful 300 litres of space
- Frugal and very, very cheap to run
- Standard kit includes reach and rake adjust steering
What’s not?
- Steering lacks feel so not exactly exciting to drive…
- …or particularly rapid either
- Air conditioning isn’t standard on One
Verdict
Without a doubt the best small car on the road today. Driving experience lacks some verve but in every other way, the entry-level Skoda Fabia is brilliant. It’ll never go wrong, cost pennies to run and low (ish) supply levels will mean decent residuals.
