Business Car Manager verdict
For small fleets, the SEAT Leon Ecomotive is an excellent solution.
It’s cheaper than a Golf Bluemotion but boasts many of that car’s attributes (after all, it’s based on the same platform and mechanicals) and – most importantly – it’s the only car in the Leon range that qualifies for 100% write-down allowance.
Business car managers will be happy and drivers will, too, because the Leon is a seriously comfortable and grown-up car. With its alloy wheels, colour touchscreen and sharp design it’s pretty desirable too.
That leaves the comparison with the standard SEAT Leon 1.6 TDI.
In terms of costs, the Ecomotive is around £20 a month more expensive to lease, only £1 a month cheaper in company car tax, but 11mpg more economical – at least on paper. The big difference is that 100% first year write down allowance where only the Ecomotive qualifies.
