SHOULD all drivers attend mandatory classes on ‘safe driving’, before being issued a license.

At least, that way, the government can do something to help bring down the number of accidents that happen each day.

Granted, that some of these accidents may happen due to sheer bad luck or due to external reasons but most of them happen due to driver’s fault. That’s why it is essential that you review some of the unwritten road rules so that you can drive safely.

The first thing that all drivers must do is to be aware and alert of their current surroundings. They need to ensure that they and their fellow passengers are wearing the seat belt at all times.

This should help limit any injuries in case of any sudden accidents. Furthermore, you must be coherent at all times. If you feel that you are under the influence of alcohol and other substances or that you have a medical condition at the moment that prevents you from exercising sound judgment or control, then you must not drive.

Just Google automatic driving lessons, Birmingham to access more driving suggestions, tips and guidelines.

It goes without saying that as you can use the right lane to pass the vehicle in front of you, you cannot use the left lane for the same purpose. Take adequate care when driving on the motorway.

Always make sure that you use the indicators. A recent study highlighted the fact that nearly 40% of the car accidents had occurred due to issues not using indicators

When you pass through intersections, it is important that you follow the requisite rules and make sure that you do not pass any car ahead of you, at this point or attempt to change lanes either.

Attempting one or the both can lead to an accident, and one that can easily be avoided by taking care.

If conditions are dark or foggy, then you need to drive a little slower and make sure that you use the headlights at the same time.

These rules and the tips and suggestions should enable you to drive your car safely on the road, at all times.
