Is the Renault Megane a challenge for the Focus and Octavia?

Renault Megane GT 220 Sport Tourer review– sports car thrills you can enjoy with your dog

What is it?

THE latest addition to the fast but practical family car fleet. A rival for the likes of the Ford Focus ST estate and Skoda Octavia vRS estate.

The new Megane GT 220 Sport Tourer is also a new entry point into Renaultsport ownership – if you can get your company car allowance to stretch that far.

Previously, Renaultsport has only put its name to feisty and focused models in the Clio and Megane model ranges but his is its first attempt at a more rounded and family orientated model.

The Megane GT 2200 is available as a coupe, five-door hatch and Sport Tourer estate model. All feature the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine from the rapid Megane 275 Trophy R – which up until recently held the title as the world’s fastest front-wheel drive model – but here it has been watered down slightly to 217bhp.

This review is the Sports Tourer model. Perfect if you have a dog who also likes fast frills.
