AS you load the car to go on holiday, you may be wishing for a bigger boot – so how about this: a rare Cadillac Pick-up.

The Cadillac De Ville Pick-up was one of the lots at Barons Buster Lang Classic American Auction at Sandown Park at the weekend, muscling in among the Mustangs and Chevrolets.

Finished in a metallic shade of ‘Light lavender’ and with just 36,500 miles on the clock, this UK-registered Cadillac, with 7-litre V8 and automatic transmission to “pull like a train”, would put many a modern stock double cab in the shade with its roomy full leather interior and then the vast pick-up bed.

Built in 1977, Cadillac’s 75th anniversary, this particular car was said to be one of only two prototypes built.

But despite its rarity and potential, and a price guide of £14,000-£16,000, it failed to make its reserve.
