FIRST the Renault Megane Coupe, Hatch and Sport Tourer received a facelift and a bit of a mid-life update – now, a couple of weeks later, the Coupe-Cabriolet gets the new look as well.
£1200 has been lopped off the prices of cars with the Energy dCi 110 and dCi 130 diesel engines
The changes are accompanied by price cuts on selected models of up to £1200.
The facelift, which features a newly contoured nose incorporating differently shaped headlights and a much bolder Renault logo, was first seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, although the revised Coupe-Cabriolet won’t be seen in public for the first time until next month’s Brussels Motor Show.
The revised models will turn up in the UK in January, except for the Coupe-Cabriolet which arrives in March.
The mainstream Megane models are available in four main trim levels; Expression+ (Hatch and Sport Tourer only), Knight Edition, Dynamique TomTom and GT-Line TomTom.
The starting price, at £16,875 for the cheapest Hatch is unchanged, but £1200 has been lopped off the prices of cars with the Energy dCi 110 and dCi 130 diesel engines, and £850 has also been cut from the price of the 1.5 dCi 110 Auto EDC.
There’s a smaller reduction of £275 on cars with the 1.2 TCe 115 engine. Two diesel engine options – the previous entry-level 1.5 dCi 90 and the larger 2.0 dCi 165 – have been dropped.
There are some improvements to equipment levels; automatic dual-zone climate control is now standard on Dynamique TomTom, while the Expression+ gets LED daytime running lights. Renault’s R-Link technology for smartphone integration will now be an option on the GT-Line TomTom, and standard on Coupé-Cabriolet models.
The high-performance Renaultsport 265 is still offered, but in a single trim level. The popular Cup Chassis Pack option costs £1350.
Pricing and detailed specs for the revised Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will be announced closer to the March 2014 UK launch date.
