Optima’s optimum points

  • Refined new interior with higher quality materials;
  • More space for every passenger in new cabin;
  • Lower emissions from advanced seven-speed double-clutch transmission
  • New technologies include wireless phone charging and connected services

BUSINESS driver focused, the new Kia Optima will boast a premium mobile ‘office’ interior with more space and a vast array of high-tech equipment.

To be launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the fourth-generation Optima claims improved ride and handling while retaining the sporty image that has helped Optima become one of Kia’s best-selling models.

Thanks to it being longer and wider than the previous model, the new Optima can claim more head, shoulder and rear seat legroom and greater cargo capacity.

The new sleeker body design makes the fourth-generation model the most aerodynamic Optima to date, with drag reduced from 0.3 to 0.29 Cd.

One of the most noticeable interior changes is the dashboard now divided into an upper ‘display’ zone and a lower ‘control’ zone, to help keep the driver’s eyes on the road.

A range of optional advanced driver assist system include:

  • Adaptive cruise control;
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking, which employs a long-range radar detection system to detect a potential collision;
  • Lane Keeping Assist System;
  • High Beam Assist, which automatically adjusts headlamp range according to other vehicles and road conditions;
  • Blind Spot Detection;
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which warns against other cars driving behind the Optima in car parks while reversing.
