Porsche is rejuvenating its range with an all-new diesel engine for the big Cayenne 4×4.
And a new Porsche 911 GT3, launched at the Geneva motor show, due autumn.
“We will also have our first four-door model, the Panamera, coming later in the year. But I think one of the most significant models is the Cayenne diesel, which we have just launched,” commented Andy Goss, managing director, Porsche.
“The luxury 4×4 market is dominated by diesels. And we haven’t had one until now. The early signs are very encouraging. We have had 460 bookings for 24-hour test drives in the Cayenne diesel. And that’s well ahead of the 250 we were expecting.”
Goss said that Porsche dealers in the UK had been reporting increased showroom activity since January. “The business environment seems to have stabilised. And I expect to see an upturn in business in the spring.”
The Porsche Cayenne diesel features a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine. Power is 240bhp; fuel consumption 30.4mpg; CO2 emissions are 244g/km. The Porsche Cayenne diesel is priced from£40,250.
The Porsche 911 GT3 goes on sale in the autumn. It features an engine uprated from 3.6- to 3.8-litres. It now produces 435bhp – 20bhp more than the outgoing model.
