A novel shop-window for the new Porsche Macan SUV

PORSCHE has shown its new mid-sized Macan SUV in Britain for the first time with a shop window display at the famous department store Harrods.

The UK starting line-up will feature three models with starting prices between £43,300 and £59,300.

The Porsche Macan S and Macan S Diesel both start at £43,300. The S has a 3-litre twin-turbo V6 delivering 340PS, and can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 5.2 seconds while returning up to 32.5mpg. The equivalent figures for the Macan S Diesel are 6.3 seconds and 46.3mpg, thanks to a 3-litre V6 diesel engine producing 258PS.

The Macan Turbo S even quicker – its 3.6-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine produces 400PS, enough for 0 to 62mph acceleration in 4.8 seconds – that’s as quick as a 911 Targa.

All Macans get Porsche Traction Management (PTM), a seven-speed PDK double-clutch transmission, alloy wheels, a digital radio, front and rear ParkAssist, a multi-function steering wheel with gearshift paddles, an electronic tailgate release, a USB port connection and a three-year warranty.

On top of that, the Macan Turbo gets a BOSE Surround Sound audio system, sat nav, a leather interior, alcantara roof lining, adjustable adaptive front sports seats with memory, Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and 19 inch diameter alloy wheels.

The Porsche Macan, which slots into the Porsche range below the Cayenne, is already available to order in the UK, and the first cars will arrive in showrooms in April.

Porsche’s Harrods window display – which also includes a 911 Turbo S, a Panamera S E-Hybrid and a 918 Spyder plug-in – will be in place until 5 February.
