HERE’S a novel move into mobility: Porsche on demand.
The sports car and SUV maker is making available a fleet of 100 Porsche cars around London for a limited time from £20 a journey.
The experimental move into executive on demand transport – available by using the global ride hailing app Gett – starts on Wednesday November 29, 2017, and is due to end in May 2018.
The executive hire promotion is being provided by One Transport through Gett, and is limited exclusively to current Porsche customers, along with a selection of Gett’s high-value customers – some who may consider converting to a Porsche in the future.
Fares start at a flat rate of £20 within central London; beyond London rides will be priced according to time and distance. The Gett app will confirm the total travel cost in advance.
The 100-car Porsche fleet will include the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, Cayenne S E-Hybrid and Macan SUV. All drivers have been trained at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone.
The three-way mobility tie up between Porsche, One Transport and Gett is one of the first to marry personal mobility with a premium, personal transport product.
Porsche says it’s involved because it sees ownership patterns in the automotive industry changing rapidly along with urban car use patterns. It hopes the London pilot project will provide the first real-world evaluation of a new premium mobility offer.
Ragnar Schulte, general manager marketing, Porsche Cars said:
“We’re delighted that our customers will be able to travel in Porsche cars in central London with chauffeurs. This premium travel initiative will last six months with results being used to inform our future strategy for ‘on-demand’, premium transportation. We invite all users to give feedback on this new service.”
