This is the dynamic new look of the Nissan Qashqai.

It will go on sale in February 2007 after its debut at the Paris Show (late September).

The Qashqai is a new breed of crossover vehicles – not a typical hatch; not a typical 4×4; but something in between.

It is longer than a typical hatch, but shorter than a typical 4×4. Its rivals will be cars like the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra.

The interior features a cockpit for the driver, which is clearly separated from the passenger.

Other key features include:

  • Two petrol engines: 1.6-litre (115PS) and 2.0-litre (140PS)
  • Two diesel engines: 1.5-litre (106PS) and 2.0-litre (150PS)
  • Four transmission options: five-speed manual; six-speed manual; six-speed auto; CVT auto with manual mode
  • On sale: February 2007

Nissan used to make boring family hatches: think Almera, Sunny. No longer. This is the all-new Qashqai crossover.
