Old ES and Exclusiv models have been dropped and replaced by the new Design model; SE Nav models have been replaced by Tech Line trim.

Changes to the design echo features seen first in the Cascada convertible

Key models for company car drivers are:

  • Design
  • SE
  • Tech Line
  • Elite

Or if you prefer a sportier drive:

  • SRi
  • VXR

New efficient diesels

The key to the New Vauxhall Insignia Insignia range are the updated 2.0 ecoFlex diesel engines with fuel saving stop-start technology that provide motoring from 14% company car tax band. The full range of diesels is:

  • 2.0 CDTi ecoFlex 120ps/300Nm 99g/km, 76.3mpg, 14% company car tax band
  • 2.0 CDTi ecoFlex 130ps/300Nm 119g/km, 62.8mpg, 18% company car tax band
  • 2.0 CDTi ecoFlex 140ps/350Nm 99g/km, 76.3mpg, 14% company car tax band
  • 2.0 CDTi ecoFlex 163ps/350Nm 114g/km, 65.7mpg, 17% company car tax band
  • 2.0 CDTi Bi Turbo 195ps/400Nm 124g/km, 60.1mpg, 19% company car tax band

The New Vauxhall Insignia will have to wait for the company’s all-new 1.6 diesel – this will appear in 2014 (for more on this, read Vauxhall boosts business car appeal with new 1.6-litre diesel).

The new diesels are the key – 76mpg for a car this size. A 1.6 diesel follows next year

“Although we have reduced the CO2 emissions of the 2.0 diesel, there is still plenty of torque, so there’s lots of fun left in the car and the refinement is so much better,” added Adler.

If the New Insignia misses out on the new 1.6 Diesel, it does gain the new 1.6 Turbo petrol which debuts in the New Vauxhall Insignia, one of six different petrol engine/power outputs in the revised car.

Better specification

The New Vauxhall Insignia range also features better equipment for the company car driver. The Design model starts with 16ins alloys, for example, while Tech Line has sat nav as standard.

Inside there are new cloth and leather trims while the dashboard has fewer buttons for simplification of operation.

A new 8 inch touchscreen is standard on Tech Line that also features a touchpad controller with swipe control – rather like an iPad.

Next year models will appear with IntelliLnk smartphone connectivity that features in the Vauxhall Adam supermini. At which time the New Vauxhall Insignia will gain a downloadable navigation app.

The New Vauxhall Insignia goes on sale from 12 June when order banks open, while first deliveries will be made to company car drivers in late September. Its public debut will be the Frankfurt Show in September.
