This summer will see the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-class launched.

It will be available in three trims: SE, Elegance, and Sport.

It is both longer and wider than the car, with increased interior room.

Innovations include ‘Agility Control’. This offers adaptive damping depending on conditions: softer for the motorway, harder for cornering.

It will also feature standard flashing adaptive brake lights. These have been designed to reduce rear-end collisions. If the driver brakes hard at speeds above 30pmh the brake lights flash rapidly.

Improved range of engines

There is a choice of four- and six-cylinder engines. The four-cylinder petrol and diesel units feature more power and improved economy.

  • C180 Kompressor 156hp (from 143hp)
  • C200 Kompressor 184hp (from 164hp)
  • C200 CDI 136hp (from 122hp)
  • C220 CDI 170hp (from 150hp)

The six-cylinder engines remain but most gain the standard new world-first seven-speed auto called 7G-TRONIC.

  • C230 204 hp, six-speed manual
  • C280 231 hp, seven-speed auto
  • C350 272 hp, seven-speed auto
  • C320 CDI 224 hp, seven-speed auto
