Mazda will launch the all-new Mazda2 this November in Europe

MAZDA is gearing up to launch the latest version of the Fiesta-sized Mazda2 in Europe this November, but the company is already lifting the lid on some of the new car’s technical features.

Under the bonnet, there’s a choice of four of Mazda’s latest high-efficiency SKYACTIV engines including a new low-compression 1.5-litre diesel that’s good for 105PS and 220Nm of torque, and emits just 89g/km of CO2 emissions.

There are also three separate 1.5-litre petrols providing between 75 and 115PS, with CO2 emissions between 105-115g/km.

Three gearboxes are offered – five and six speed manuals, and a six-speed automatic.

And there’s plenty of technology elsewhere on the new car. There’s the SKYACTIV-Chassis, which Mazda says confers high levels of stability and agility, and a host of other features such as Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM).

Mazda also claims the highest levels of passive safety for the Mazda 2 which weighs as little as 970kg thanks to the use of lightweight but high-strength materials.
