IT hasn’t taken Audi along to complete the new A5 range only launched last year with the high-performance range-topper the new Audi RS5 Coupe was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
The RS5 is also the first Audi to show the future design direction for the highest performance RS models, with Audi’s honeycomb grille, a revised front air dam with larger air vents, blistered wheel arches, 19-inch alloys, oval exhaust tailpipes, boot spoiler and a rear diffuser.
The interior of the RS5, like the exterior feels very special with expected flat-bottom steering wheel, sports seats and Audi’s clever virtual cockpit that now includes info on torque and g-forces plus a shift light on the rev counter.
There are also changes under the bonnet of the RS5, gone is the previous V8 to be replaced by a smaller V6. Don’t worry, as with 444bhp, the new smaller engine matches the larger V8’s power – but improves on the torque with 600Nm.
Acceleration to 60mph now takes just 3.9 seconds, with the limiter removed top speed equals 174mph, but more impressive is that despite all this performance, the RS5 is still capable of 32.5mpg on the combined cycle with emissions of 197g/km.
The new Audi RS5 is expected to go on sale in early summer this year, with prices announced closer to launch.
