  • New Audi A7 Sportback embodies Audi’s progressive design and technology
  • Grand tourer offers enhanced handling and improved long-distance comfort
  • All-digital control system, comprehensive connectivity, and mild hybrid technology
  • Initially available with 3.0 TFSI V6 petrol engine with 335bhp priced from around £56,000
  • UK orders from early 2018, first deliveries in second quarter of 2018

THERE is a new executive coupe on the horizon in the glorious shape of the recently unveiled Audi A7 Sportback. It promises lots of space, great looks, the latest connectivity technology, and a total of 39 driver aid systems.

The new A7 Sportback follows on from the previous A7 that successfully combined the looks of a Grand Tourer with the practicality of an Audi Saloon or Avant. With its long bonnet, long wheelbase and short overhangs the A7 Sportback manages to look aggressive, powerful, and elegant all at the same time.

Power and Economy Combined

When the new Audi A7 Sportback goes on sale early 2018 it will be offered with the excellent 3.0-litre V6 TFSI petrol engine – other petrol and diesel engine options will follow – that produces a respectable 335bhp and will propel the car to 60mph in around five seconds.

Top speed will be limited to the traditional 155mph, but don’t be surprised if there is an option to increase this further.

The engine will also be supported by a mild-hybrid system that utilises a 48v electrical system to recover energy during braking which can then be used to “freewheel”, reducing both fuel consumption and emissions.

It may have a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine but the new A7 Sportback still offers up to 41mpg and around 154g/km that will keep business users on the right side of the tax man.

Unrivalled Interior

The interior of the new Audi A7 Sportback is designed with an emphasis on horizontal lines and a sleek instrument panel that creates a feeling of spaciousness. It offers the design of a Coupé, the space of a Saloon and the versatility of an Avant.

The interior offers more space and more comfortable seating. Compared with the previous model, interior length has increased by 21 millimetres, resulting in more rear knee room.

Rear passengers will also enjoy more head room despite the rakish lines of the roof. It also boasts a boot that will fit two sets of golf clubs – Audi’s example, not ours – but even if you aren’t a golfer there will be plenty of space for other things.

The new Audi A7 Sportback offers the same digitalisation as the recent A8, replacing the rotary pushbutton and conventional buttons and controls with two large, high-resolution touch displays. The result is a neat and tidy interior that is still packed full of technology to improve the driving experience.

The infotainment system is controlled from the 10.1-inch upper display while the 8.6-inch lower display provides access to the climate control system, comfort functions and text input. The brilliant Audi Virtual Cockpit is also an option.

The new Audi A7 Sportback will be available to order in the UK from early 2018, with pricing for the first phase of models starting from approximately £56,000.
