MERCEDES is offering an even more powerful version of its sporty E 63 AMG saloons and estates – the E 63 AMG S.

The S churns out 585 horsepower and a whopping 800Nm of torque, compared with the ‘standard’ AMG’s 557 horsepower and 720Nm. That makes it the most powerful E-Class ever sold in the UK.

Not many company car buyers will be keen to take the tax hit from the E 63 AMG S saloon’s CO2 emissions of 232g/km but the combined fuel consumption of 28.3mpg isn’t too bad for a car that gets from rest to 62mph in 4.1 seconds.

The S Model also gets a high-gloss black front apron, nineteen-inch AMG alloys in matt grey, red brake calipers, and “S” boot-lid badging.

Inside, there’s black nappa leather upholstery, an electric rear roller blind (saloon models) and AMG LED door sill illumination.

The S commands a hefty price premium compared with the standard E 63 AMG. Prices start at £83,740 rather than £73,745 for the base car – and British S models don’t get the 4MATIC four-wheel drive power-train fitted to cars sold on the continent either.

So a business car for the successful business owner then.
