Mazda makes more business-focused CX-7

HERE’S a car for individualists – the new Mazda CX-7. If you’ve not heard of it before it’s led a sheltered life in the Mazda stable. But now the sporty ‘crossover’ – part 4×4 SUV, part estate car – features a diesel engine in a one-spec model range.

The latest CX-7 is powered by a turbo-charged 2.2-litre diesel engine, generating 173PS and torque of 400Nm. Fuel consumption is 42.8mpg, while the CO2 emissions are 199g/km. The latter puts the CX-7 in the 10% writing down allowance capital allowances band; and the 31% company car tax band for 2010/11.

Mazda has updated the design, and also improved the ride comfort and handling. Standard specification includes leather seats, climate control air-conditioning, cruise control, electric driver’s and front passenger’s heated seats, a BOSE audio system, integrated satellite navigation and Bluetooth technology.

Available from November, the Mazda CX-7 costs L25,785.
