Renault Master road test report

Renault Master MM35

Renault Master MM35dCi 120

What is it?

Revised version of larger Renault panel van, with new styling and engines.

What’s hot?

  • Plenty of choice thanks to three wheelbases and three roof heights
  • Available in three body types: van, minibus and chassis-cab
  • Three versions of new dCi engines available
  • Increased power output between 100bhp and 150bhp
  • Top version is especially good
  • Six-speed Quickshift6 transmission available as an option on all models
  • Front-drive layout is unusual on such a large van…
  • …but gives low load floor and maximum flexibility for special conversions

    What’s not?

    • Despite a new ‘corporate’ face, the Master is showing its age
    • Ride is a little harsh and noisy
    • Interior functionality below many competitors
    • Van lacks shelves, pockets and useful spaces

Business Car Manager Road Test Rating

Master is showing its age. The good news is that Renault acknowledges this, so you might be able to get a good price for what is still a very decent and practical van.
