OK, START saving all you SME directors and small business owners. We think you’ll want one of these.
It’s the new baby Porsche SUV. It’s a full 4×4 like the Cayenne. Only smaller.
Porsche calls it the Macan and it will be on sale in Europe from spring 2014.
Prices start at 57,930 Euro in Germany, which equates to £48,582 in Sterling.
There are three Porsche Macan models to choose from, although we reckon most business users are going to opt for the 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel model, combining power, economy and long distance relaxation.
This is the Porsche Macan S Diesel2) model (don’t ask us about the weird model designation, and no the bracket isn’t a mistake).
The Macan S Diesel2) powers from 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds and yet has fuel economy of 46.3mpg. CO2 emissions dip to 159g/km – so if you want to drive one on the business as a company car, expect a company car tax banding of 27%.
The other two Porsche Macan models are the Macan S1) and Macan Turbo3).
The Macan S1) features a 3.0-litre V6 biturbo engine delivering 340bhp, enabling the SUV to 62mph from a standing start in 5.4 seconds. Economy is 32.47mpg.
The monster blaster, though, is the Macan Turbo3) – with a 400bhp 3.6-litre V6 biturbo engine, 0-62mph disappears in 4.8 seconds. Economy is 31.74mpg.
With the optional Sport Chrono package fitted – a sports enabling push button on the dash that tunes up the suspension, powers up the engine sound and blasts it off the line even faster – the Macan Turbo3) can reach 62mph in 4.6 seconds. Should you wish to indulge in such behaviour, of course…
