The Lamborghini Huracan replaces the best-selling Lamborghini ever made – the Gallardo. Sixty comes up in around 3 seconds. Quickish then

BUSINESS car user-choosers who’ve really made it now have an exciting new option to add to their shopping lists – the Lamborghini Huracan, which replaces the long-running Gallardo, the best-selling car in Lamborghini’s history.

Externally, the sharp-edged Huracan looks every inch a Lamborghini but gets a few novel touches as well, including LED headlamps.Under the skin there’s a mighty new 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine producing 610PS and an enormous 560 Nm of torque, enough to blast the Huracan from rest to 62 mph in only 3.2 seconds – not bad for the baby of the Lamborghini family. Top speed is a shade over 200 mph.

There’s at least a nod to fuel efficiency and CO2-based taxes, in the form of Stop & Start technology, which helps the Lamborghini Huracan turn in a combined fuel consumption of 12.5 litres per 100km (about 22.6mpg) with emissions of 290g/km. The new car is both faster and more fuel-efficient than the out-going Gallardo, and meets the latest Euro 6 emissions standards as well.

The Huracan will be doing well if it sells as well as the Gallardo, though – that car had a production run of 14,022 cars over ten years, a remarkable figure for an exotic model of this sort.
