THE sensational Jaguar XFR has zoomed up Goodwood Hill to launch the 2012 Festival of Speed.

While hardly the conventional business car of choice for small business owners – as opposed to the business car of desire – the £65,000 Jaguar demonstration runs provided a suitably supercharged start the preview event for the 2012 running of the Festival of Speed which is set to take place between June 28 and July 1.

The theme for the 2012 Festival is ‘Young Guns – Born to Win’ celebrating young drivers, riders, designers and engineers in every aspect of the automotive world.

This theme is echoed by the recent steps taken by Jaguar Land Rover to recruit hundreds of new graduates in every part of the business, encouraging them to contribute to, and play a key part in, JLR’s ambitious plans for the future.

“It’s critical that we attract talented young people to become the next generation of engineers and technologists. We have a wide range of educational initiatives underway with the aim of getting young people excited about engineering and crucially, to encourage them to make the right subject choices at GCSE-level and beyond,” commented JLR executive director Mike Wright. JLR is planning  engage with thousands of young people at ‘The Big Bang’ science and engineering fair at the NEC in Birmingham tomorrow (15 March).

JLR has recently announced that is also creating 1,000 new jobs at its Halewood Operations manufacturing facility, near Liverpool in order to meet the astonishing demand for the ultra-successful Range Rover Evoque, which has received excellent business car reviews.

Last year at the Festival, Jaguar looked back on 50 years of the E-type. But this year Jaguar is after a slice of the action of the fuure. With the business car news of vehicles such as the recently announced XF Sportbrake estate, Jaguar looks like it’s speeding up the right track.
