JAGUAR has pressed the button and now the XE configurator has gone live at www.jaguar.co.uk.

At the same time, the company has set out details of the extensive Jaguar XE launch line-up, which should give company car drivers looking for an alternative to the BMW 3-Series or Mercedes C-Class plenty of choice.

Prices start at £26,995 for the entry-level Jaguar XE SE trim, but even at this early stage in the new car’s life, Jaguar is offering four further full rungs of the ladder; Prestige, R-Sport, Portfolio and S.

All cars get sat nav and Jaguar’s new InControl infotainment system, as well as cruise control, a DAB digital radio and a multi-function leather steering wheel. The SE gets seventeen-inch alloys.

The Prestige adds heated front seats, leather upholstery and ambient lighting, while the Portfolio offers a Meridian audio system, ten-way electric front seats, Bi-Xenon headlamps and eighteen-inch alloys (depending on engine choice).

R-Sport cars have extensive R-Sport branding, as well as a rear spoiler and an R-Sport body kit. There’s also sports suspension, Bi-Xenon headlamps, gloss black window surrounds and two-tone eighteen-inch alloys (depending on engine choice).

The S, the sportiest choice in the Jaguar XE range, has heated perforated leather seats, tread plates and a leather sports steering wheel, all carrying the S logo. The front bumper has enlarged air intakes to feed the supercharged V6 engine.

Other exterior items include side sill extensions,  a rear spoiler, red brake calipers, Bi-Xenon headlamps and nineteen-inch alloys, and there’s a Meridian audio system, keyless entry and a power-operated boot lid.

And if that lot isn’t enough, the configurator also allows customers to opt for a huge array of paint colours, interior trims, alternative alloy wheel designs and exterior packs, as well as equipment such as a head-up display, a wi-fi hot spot and remote Cabin Pre-Heater.

Engines choices include the 163 PS and 180 PS four-cylinder diesels, plus 200 and 240 PS four-cylinder petrols. The high-performance S model is fitted with a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 producing 340 PS.

However, the Jaguar XE that we think is going to appeal most company car drivers is a 99g/km, 163PS 2.0-litre diesel version.
