José Viegas: directing future global transport strategies at the International Transport Forum

Story: RALPH MORTON

There’s a new secretary-general at the helm of the International Transport Forum.

Portuguese academic and consultant José Viegas was appointed at the Forum’s May summit.

Now, as a business car manager, you might shrug your shoulders and wander off.

But the International Transport Forum is housed at the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) in Paris, and acts as a global think-tank for future transportation strategies.

And not just road – but rail, air, sea and road safety, too.

“There are new and significant challenges for all transport modes across the world,” said Viegas on the his appointment.

“The International Transport Forum faces great opportunities for a strategic reorientation, which will further strengthen its role as the foremost platform for a global dialogue on transport policy.”

Which means that José Viegas and his team at the International Transport Forum will be influencing your company car policy in the future.

So make a note of the name – more integrated and greener transport policies will be coming our way.
