Hyundai i20 1.2 SE Coupe review
What is it?
A high-value coupe version of the recently launched Hyundai i20 five door hatch, powered by a choice of 1.2-litre petrol (driven here), or 1.4-litre diesel power and offered in SE, Sport and Sport Nav trims.
What’s hot?
- The Hyundai i20 Coupe might be the same length as the standard five-door hatch, but with two less doors, a curvier roofline, slimmer rear lights, plus those sculpted rear arches, the Coupe looks much more sporty and stylish.
- Inside, the i20 Coupe’s interior also impresses; there’s a European texture and quality to the plastics and trim. This was livened up on our test car by Tangerine Orange accents around the cabin to match the lairy Tangerine Orange exterior finish.
- Value for money is at the heart of every Hyundai and the i20 Coupe is no different. Our SE Coupe test car had a comprehensive list of standard equipment including 16- inch alloys, air-conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth, a multi-function steering wheel and rear parking sensors.
- The Coupe has two less doors, but it drives no different to the i20 five-door hatch. This means pleasingly direct steering and tidy handling with little body roll when on the move.
- Our test car was powered by the 83bhp 1.2-litre petrol, with 119g/km emissions, equalling an 18% company car tax band for 2015/16.
