How to calculate company car tax on a petrol or hybrid car

  • P11D price of the car: £17,370
  • CO2 emissions: 97g/km
  • Company Car Tax band 2017/18: 18%
  • Basic taxable benefit: £17,370 x 18% = £3127
  • Company car tax payable per month: £52 (20% tax rate)/£104 (40% tax rate)

How to calculate company car tax on a diesel car

  • P11D price of the car: £17,370
  • CO2 emissions: 97g/km
  • Company Car Tax band 2017/18: 21% (includes 3% diesel surcharge)
  • Basic taxable benefit: £17,370 x 21% = £3648
  • Company car tax payable per month: £61 (20% tax rate)/£122 (40% tax rate)
