The new Honda Civic Type S is a sporty three-door version of the Civic hatchback.
It has retuned suspension to match its sporting nature.
Prices start at £14,000 and rise to £19,800, depending on specification.
Both 1.8 Type S petrol and 2.2 Type S diesel qualify in the 18% company car tax band. It will make it an attractive user-chooser car.
The new VW Golf 1.4 TSI is two bands higher, for instance.
The three-door Civic will be available as a Type S or Type S GT. Cars can be ordered with satellite navigation and a hands-free telephone system. There is also an i-Shift, a clutchless manual model.
The new Type S goes on sale in January 2007. A new performance Type R model will follow.
