Neowing highlights

  • Three-wheeler sports bike concept from Honda;
  • Hybrid technology with four-cylinder boxer and electric motors;
  • Tilting front wheels for fast, grippy cornering;
  • 100% write down on tax for SMEs’ ‘plant’.

IF YOU are getting a bit jaded about what next to put on the company car wish-list what about a super tax efficient hybrid three-wheeler that classifies as a motorcycle?

Enter the Honda Neowing concept unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, a three-wheeler relation to the factory’s long-standing range topper, the Goldwing.

It’s similar to a quad bike but with only one rear wheel and, similar to the tilting systems pioneered by Piaggio, the Honda Neowing’s linkage system appears to let the tricycle lean into bends like a two-wheeler while giving total stability at rest in an upright position – so no need to put your feet down at traffic lights.

Power pushed by shaft-drive to the single rear wheel comes from a hybrid system that combines a boxer horizontally-opposed 4-cylinder engine and electric motors promising plenty of supercar challenging motorcycle performance.

On top of the BIK and congestion charge advantages of a super-efficient hybrid, a motorcycle is considered as operational plant for a SME and enjoys a 100% write-down on tax.
