Six charge points have been installed at the firm’s Benton Park Road office, close to the UK’s biggest residential cluster in South Shields and are now being used daily.

“It is essential that we are prepared for when electric cars become commonplace in years to come,” added Lois Warne, technical advisor, Zero Carbon Futures.

“The technology that is being trialled through the project will monitor and control the electricity demand from charging electric cars and, in the long-term, will save expensive and potentially disruptive work being carried out to upgrade the electricity network.”

Fleetdrive Electric, part of the small fleet leasing firm Fleetdrive, is part of the My Electric Avenue project. Fleetdrive was winner of the Best Small Fleet Green Leasing Company in our Small Fleet Leasing Awards 2013.
