AUDI has provided the strongest indication yet of the design of its new TT, which is due to be unveiled at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.
First, the company hinted at the third-generation model’s uncluttered high-tech interior, which features a so-called “virtual cockpit”. Now it has released a series of sketches showing the new car’s exterior design.
Audi says its designers have revisited and re-interpreted the original first-generation Audi TT, and the similarities are plain to see.
Among the aspects to draw inspiration from the 1998 car are the sill contours, the wheel arches and the “tornado line”, which is interrupted by the front wheel arch but flows over the side windows to the rear of the car.
One change – the famous Audi four-ring logo has been moved from the characteristic big deep grille to the bonnet panel, an arrangement similar to that found on company’s super-car, the R8.
