Group Renault fleet drive

  • Group Renault UK fleet team gains four sales managers
  • Expanding range of fleet sector vehicles with Kadjar to be joined by Megane and Scenic/Grand Scenic
  • Demonstrator fleet increased by 57 per cent
  •  30% more Business Hub support call centre personnel

GROUP Renault UK has kicked up a gear or two in its fleet sales operations with four key managerial appointments, more demonstrators and boosted business support facilities.

The Renault business sales push is key to Group Renault UK, which comprises the Renault car and LCV and Dacia brands, driving forward plans for fleet market sales with its new models on stream or primed for launch and the LCV range.

Renault is looking forward to the first full year of the Kadjar compact sports utility, this summer’s launch of all-new Megane followed by the Megane sports tourer in the autumn alongside new Scenic and Grand Scenic.

The team is bolstered by the appointments of new business development area managers Simon Hubbard, Mark Waite and Simon Williams and Chris Bunce to the position of business sales area manager (SME).

The appointments follow the restructuring of the department to bring the Fleet Operations, Residual Value Management and Used Vehicles teams together under Mark Dickens, as the head of fleet operations and remarketing, in order to offer fleet customers an all-encompassing, more streamlined service.

The demonstrator fleet has also been increased by 57% and Business Hub support call centre personnel increased by 30%. A new telephone voice coaching system has also been introduced throughout the brand’s increasing number of Pro+ fleet dealerships.

Mark Dickens told Business Car Manager & Business Vans that they were enjoying accelerated growth for both cars and vans with van sales growth “second only to Ford” and the big push was in conversions with 80% “off the shelf” with Master tippers’ sales up 185% and Renault overall up 79% in a market up 31%.

The number of Pro+ dealerships was being doubled with up to 79 sites, bolstered by dealer-specific fleet sales training, while there was to be a major user-chooser test drive programme this spring, with the accent on Kadjar as the compact SUV was the key growth sector, with similar pushes for Megane and Scenic to follow.

New business development managers

Working with customers whose fleets are over 100 vehicles, the three new business development area managers bring a wealth of experience to their roles.

  • Simon Hubbard: During 25 years in automotive retailing has previously worked for Renault and also held senior fleet sales positions with prestige and generalist manufacturers, including FIAT, Volkswagen and Audi. Simon covers the Midlands, East Anglia, South Wales and Cornwall.
  • Mark Waite: Has spent over 26 years in automotive sales, working for brands including Peugeot, Citroen, Toyota and Lexus – most recently as International Fleet Key Account Manager. He will cover the South of England, South East and East Midlands.
  • Simon Williams: With over 30 years’ industry experience and having previously represented Renault for 12 years in senior sales roles, including fleet sales manager at Renault Manchester,  serves customers in the North of England and Scotland.
  • Chris Bunce: Brings SME team up to full strength. Previously worked for Renault in a business sales managerial role at national level. Has over 20 years of automotive sales experience, using his vast knowledge to deliver the best possible service to businesses across West London and Oxfordshire.

Group Renault sales director Darren Payne said: “These appointments and growth in our sales department come at a very exciting time for the rapidly growing Group Renault UK and for our customers, our fleet offering being stronger than ever with the first full-year of sales of the all-new Kadjar, the forthcoming all-new Megane and, later in 2016, an all-new version of Scenic too.

“Our team prides itself on its expertise and our new members have all been recruited for their substantial experience, passion for the brand and understanding of businesses’ fleet requirements. With the right people, a superb product line-up, a much enlarged demonstrator fleet and even greater support facilities, we look forward to providing fleet customers with an unprecedented Renault experience.”

At the same timer Group Renault UK has redefined its Services and Quality division with Mark Crockett appointed director of Total Customer Experience (TCE) for Group Renault UK and Ireland while Tim Marriott becomes director of After Sales for Group Renault UK and Ireland.

The newly-created TCE organisation will integrate Customer Engagement, Customer Support, Product Support and Warranty. These TCE teams will be complemented by a new Customer Journey team in order to deliver the best possible Renault experience to customers.

Tim Marriott will oversee the newly formed After Sales organisation focussing on the commercial performance of Group Renault and adding further efficiency to the expanded After Sales roles.  The split sees the After Sales division focus on the commercial operations of parts, accessories, options and services functions.
