THOSE of you who regularly read our news section may remember us telling you about the new Chery SUV from China. Well, the actual car made an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show so we can now give you a few more details.
It’s called the Chery EXEED TX and it’s the first in a proposed line of cars heading to the European market.
The EXEED TX is a compact SUV designed for young, urban, progressive-minded customers, and to meet the requirements of private and fleet buyers in terms of design, quality, dynamics, connectivity and safety.
So Chery say anyway.
In fairness they’re probably right too.
The Chery EXEED TX boasts quite progressive styling with a sharp chrome horizontal brand bar, which is complemented by further chrome trim adorning the front bumper, side skirts and window surrounds. Full LED headlamps and a neat rear light cluster design complete the car’s look.
The interior is spacious with coloured LED lighting that can be personalised to change the ambience in the cabin. It has a 10-inch touchscreen in the centre of the dash that provides access to a range of infotainment, interior and driver settings and vehicle status information menus. Smartphone connectivity, voice recognition, built-in WiFi and Chery’s ‘E call’ emergency assistance service will be standard as well.
What is an excellent sign is that the Chery EXEED TX will go on sale with three electrified powertrains. Initial models will be available as a plug-in hybrid with a 1.5-litre engine and 85kW electric motor. Chery claim the EXEED TX will have an electric only range of around 40 miles and can be fast charged to 80% in 30 minutes. Later models will offer standard hybrid and all-electric variants alongside the PHEV.

It seems to have worked.
