Ford claim the new Mondeo is their most technically advanced car ever

What’s hot?

  • Said to be the most technically advanced Ford vehicle ever
  • Lots of safety kit including Ford’s new Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Protection
  • Class-leading driving dynamics
  • Stiffer chassis than previous Mondeo
  • Improved refinement, up to three decibels improvement
  • More slippery than old model, ten per cent improvement in aerodynamic efficiency
  • Integral link rear suspension for good handling and ride characteristics
  • Electric power steering, nicely engineered
  • Weight saving achieved through lightweight, high strength materials, for improved economy
  • Wide range of petrol and diesel engines
  • Joining the range: new two-litre TDCi diesel engine with twin-sequential turbocharging, has 210 PS power and 450 Nm torque
  • Hybrid version of the new Mondeo also available
  • Urban driving made safer by Ford’s new Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection

Ford, Mondeo, badge,
The new Ford Mondeo has been a long time coming, the US version was shown in Detroit three-years ago!

What’s not?

  • It has been a long time coming, first shown at the Detroit Motor Show nearly three years ago
  • It has been sold on the US market as the Fusion since 2012, but not here until two years later
  • Dark colours in cabin reinforce a very corporate look
  • Not all the plastics are pliant, some hard surfaces around the cabin at mid-level
  • Petrol 1.5 litre model less impressive, with questionable gear ratio in the manual version
